Hey, let's do a compar-o: my brush pen LeBrun vs. the real thing (and yes, that's brush pen I used--it's just dusty with dryness).
Hey, in my defense I was seated kinda cock-eyed to the thing...
Just through the April Door.

We'll see if all my color dabbling/learning makes it into this piece.
The dabbling and math for complements helped a bit.
Sped me up.
Took me as long to do ...

With all due respect to LeBrun... the gesture is stronger on your version. The line of action runs up the entire body on yours and I like the little tilt of the head you added. Davis Chino. Modern Master.
Agree.
You guys are NICE.
Seeing both of these JUXTAPOSED, what strikes me is how I (unconsciously) reinterpret the original into a more "modern" calligraphy/physiognomy--you know what I mean? Beside the point of "flow" that you guys kindly argue works in my favor, the LeBrun etching guy just looks so old fashioned, doesn't he? It's in the little visual shorthands they use for different body parts, don't you think? Like the lumpiness of the overlapping muscles, the shapes in the arms...? I don't know, 'cuz my arms/hands are crap, but there is something old-timey about the other that frankly surprised me when I saw them this way.
Yes, "frankly."
